I’ve been teaching kindergarten since 2012 and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I graduated in 2012 with a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and a special education endorsement. In 2016 I obtained a Masters in Education with a focus on Neuroeducation. I want all my students to be happy, successful, and to love learning. My goal is to make kindergarten a fun and exciting introduction to school.
I teach in a very small, rural school. I’m talking so small that many of the grades are combined (1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, etc.). We are a kindergarten through 8th grade school but only have 5 classroom teachers. I absolutely love my little school! We are a very close-knit, supportive community. But collaborating on things like lesson plans and curriculum can be difficult because we each have different standards to teach.
So I know what it’s like to struggle to come up with new lesson ideas by yourself or to have no one to share with when you planned an amazing activity (even when you have amazing coworkers).
I often found myself turning to Pinterest, teacher blogs, and Facebook groups to see what other kindergarten teachers were doing in their classrooms (and still do). I discovered something amazing when I did:
I am married to my best friend. My husband is absolutely amazing and supportive!
We have the cutest dog in the world (I may be a little biased). Zoey is so fun and sweet!
I love haning out with my friends and family, going on hikes, reading, watching movies, and going to the beach.
I am the oldest of 5 kids and there is 17 years between me and my youngest sibling. Growing up, I was always helping with my sister and 3 brothers. That is how I ended discovering that I loved working with kids and wanted to be a teacher.
I would love to share my ideas with you and hear what works in your classroom!
